WE WERE WITH KINAPA ON THEIR 50th ANNIVERSARY!

 We planted trees!

Recently, we planted over 500 trees on Mount Kilimanjaro to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Kilimanjaro National Park Authority (KINAPA). Our aim is to promote sustainable tourism practices and protect the natural environment of the mountain.

The tree planting initiative is part of the society's ongoing efforts towards environmental conservation and was attended by MPKS members, KINAPA officials, and tourism company representatives.

The society hopes to mitigate the environmental impact of tourism on the mountain and promote biodiversity through reforestation

Let us share with you what we discussed in an exciting debate prior to KINAPA's anniversary

We recently debated the topic of tourism in relation to climate change. The discussion focused on the need for sustainable tourism practices to reduce the negative impact of tourism on the environment. We expressed our concern about the increasing number of tourists visiting Mount Kilimanjaro and the associated environmental degradation mostly littering.

We also discussed strategies to promote responsible tourism, such as reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly practices. Overall, the debate highlighted the importance of balancing tourism with environmental conservation efforts to ensure the longevity of Mount Kilimanjaro's natural beauty.

WE DID A MASSIVE CLEANUP ON MOUNT KILI TO THE PEAK THROUGH THE MARANGU GATE!

Our team organized a cleanup effort on Mount Kilimanjaro. The goal of the initiative was to collect and remove trash and debris left behind by tourists on the mountain. The cleanup was carried out by MKPS members, who are experienced porters and guides familiar with the mountain's terrain.

During the cleanup, our team collected a significant amount of garbage, including plastic bottles, food wrappers, and camping equipment. The group worked diligently to ensure that the mountain was left clean and free of litter. In addition to cleaning up, the team also educated tourists and the dwellers aroound the mountain (Marangu) about the importance of responsible tourism practices and encouraged them to dispose of their waste properly.

The cleanup effort by our team demonstrates their commitment to preserving the natural beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro and promoting sustainable tourism practices. The group hopes that their efforts will inspire others to take similar actions to protect the environment and promote responsible tourism.
